Health Services

Oglethorpe County School System is committed to promoting good health habits and a safe learning environment for every student, every day. Below are some guidelines for our parents and students to help keep our classrooms healthy:

  • Eat a good breakfast, this helps get our bodies fueled up and ready for the day

  • Bring a water bottle to school and refill it throughout the day.  Drink water instead of sodas or sports drinks

  • If your child has a temperature of 100, has a cough that is more than just occasional, or has vomited/had diarrhea more than one time in 24 hours, please keep your student home.  They may return to school when they are fever free/symptom free for 24 hours without medications or with a doctor's note

  • WASH YOUR HANDS several times during the day....Good handwashing is the best defense against illness

  • If your child has a condition or illness that could be easily spread to other students (for example, impetigo, pinkeye, chicken pox, flu, or lice) please contact the school nurse before sending your child to school.  Occasionally, if your child develops symptoms develop during the school day, the nurse may require you to pick up your child.   In certain instances a doctor's note may be required before your child can return to school.  The school nurse is always available to answer questions or discuss your child's health

  • Please make sure your contact numbers are updated in PowerSchool.  It's important the school nurse be able to reach a parent or guardian in case of illness or emergencies.
